Looney Tunes

As a child i never read comic books and rarely watch cartoon for that matter. The only time i watch cartoon is when i spend time with my little cousin brother who enjoys Looney Tunes cartoon series. As much as he enjoys the show I had to admit I find it very amusing. Even today, I still find myself enjoying the Looney Tunes series of characters as they never fail to give me a good laugh. 

Looney Tunes is an animated cartoon series by Warner Bros. The Series features cartoon characters includes Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety Bird and Porky Pig among many other characters and with no surprise they are the most familiar and widely known characters in the history.   

when hope leaves

This is the final sketch of my art work. I know it look different from my initial sketch. I changed it as I was not sure I can get the effect I want with a smaller sun as you have seen before in my previous sketch. Anyways I hope I can paint the image in my head using photoshop x)

first attempt with the brush and going well i guess.

Green shades are chosen for the body to make it look like it's wilting and as for the sea, the waves will be more darker inside when the colouring is done. It shows that rays from the eye has reached the ocean and it's life has been taken over making the ocean darker and polluted.  

this is how it looks now, not what i expected but i hope i get there in time.

In order to have a an angry, dark and demonic sun I played with different shades of colours while decreasing the opacity in different layers and this was the result i was most satisfied with. As for her face this is definitelty not the shade i want to have but it will be a colour that reflects her hair as well as her body.  

I was told that this looks very scary and that is not what I was portraying therefore I had to change the colour once again. For her face, again there are three different layers and each layer has a different colour that has a different opacity to make the colours blend in from layer to layer. 

I am more satisfied with the colouring and it matches the sadness i wanted to portray so there will be no more changes to the colour of the face. However, I am still trying to figure out what i should do with the sun and it's rays. I am still struggling to paint the image in my head. 

Whatever you see towards her eyes is something i wanted to put on her face as if it rooted from the neck infecting the whole face. I I was unable to find an image on internet on such short time and besides I was recommended by my friend I deleted the layer.

Here I have added another layer add more contrast for the rays of the sun.

I have added a black background on top of the sketch to make sure that i have coloured everywhere. While i was at it, I accidentally  ended up colouring the eye black and i like the way it is now. So here is what i submitted to my lecturer as my final art work.

Art Movement: Abstract art

Theme chosen: Global Warming

Ideation and Concept: The mother earth has been possessed by the satan (sun) and it is taking over her life. She is looking at 'YOU' saying that you have failed on me. Hope has been drained from her as she surrenders herself to the satan to be destroyed.

This portrays a very dramatic image of what will happen to the earth due to Global Warming. Earth needs it's people to protect her from being destroyed. 

voice of the youths

This was a picture taken by Mauroof Khaleel aka maapu at Raalhugandu Male' during a peaceful gathering initiated by youths of Maldives voicing out for Democracy rights and pleading for justice on 16th February 2012. 

Youths came together to stand up against the inhumane acts of Police on the people followed by the events that occurred after Maldives first democratic president Mohamed Nasheed was forced to resign on 7th february 2012. What anybody can see from this picture is nothing but unity and the choice of wearing white clearly shows that they come in peace.

hope

normally i wouldn't go for anything that has a positive meaning or something that 

would elevate positive energy but tonight i am feeling a bit hopeful. I blame the music-John Mayer.His new album is blowing my mind to it's very core and i like it x). 

anyways the images i chose for my mood board are the ones that caught my eye while browsing and the more i look at it the more i like it. I guess tonight i am going to bed feeling a bit hopeful. Highly unlikely of me.  

when hope leaves

i had this idea of a possessed earth by satanic force in which satan is the sun. so i drew the sun with an eye and the long rays of light it emits are the demons fading into the atmosphere reaching to the earth surface. 

but then i had a hard time imagining a possessed earth throughout the weekend. while i was trying effortlessly to come up with something that can depict an earth i came across this song called Hope Leaves which is one of my favorites of Opeth's. to me this song is about coping with a death of a loved one and struggling to nurture what's left of that person - the memories. in the end he give up as there is no hope of this person returning back, so hope leaves. 

i don't know why i decided to write my interpretation of the song, i guess this gives more insight to the art work + how i came up with it. Anyways this song made me think of a girl under the moonlight who is drowning herself into the ocean and i took that idea and implanted it here x). I drew her face as if she is looking towards 'YOU' and saying you have failed on me. Her face is very sad looking + her hope has been drained and she no longer wants to live hence she surrenders herself to the satan to be destroyed.  

hahaha i know! I am laughing at myself too x'D

As for the art movement i am thinking of going for expressionism +  realism + some more.  

catch the hot bullets

this piece of art work was inspired by one of  tunng's  song called bullets. the sun is firing hot rays (bullets) to the earth and earth's only defense (ozone layer) has been cracked leaving hot sun rays directly pass into the earth surface. 

Even though it is not clearly seen, the image in my head was a more like a bleeding earth.!  bleeding of hot lava from the bottom of the earth as earth has been hit. 

As far as i am concern this is somewhat the reality of what is happening but in a more dramatic way. 

the art work is not completely done yet, there are so many details missing but what you can see here is the basic idea. 

wearing out

this is one of my very recent sketch which portrays a girl with a mask on (one of those sad looking + chalking skin masks). She hides her inner beauty behind the mask which is now wearing out making her vulnerable.
the mask here is the earth and due to the global warming its melting off. the sketch is not really finished yet but basically that is the idea.
as for the art movement, i am thinking of using surrealism and expressionism + some more.. it's a work in progress   

spitting out

earth is tired and full of waste and it's spitting them out as if it can no longer stand it. 

lifeless earth

willow tree (which is supposed to look bigger + more lifeless than it looks)is dead and the life support of the tree is the earth. The dead tree means that earth is no longer ideal to live and support a life of a tree. 

the roots that initially holding onto the earth for support is all dried up and now they are coming out as earth is too dried up.

Here earth acts as the soil + carbondioxide + minerals + water for the plant. 

earth is asking you to STOP !

the red traffic light on the earth is depicting stop sign and seeing it people come to a halt and gathers around it.
The 'people' gathered here could be ordinary people or it could also be men in suits. A 'tie' symbolizes men in suits as in men with power, such as politicians + businessmen.
All in all what this picture is trying to tell that, not only men in suits have the power to save the earth but ordinary people like YOU have the power too. Simply by changing the lifestyle. 


ps: the title is still a work in progress and haven't come up with any art movement too. 

Brainstorm for ideas 02

Since my first attempt to come up ideas didn't go so well i started from scratch and i was able to come up with four solid ideas yet i chose one of it as i had little confident in presenting other that i came up with.

Brainstorm for ideas 01

One of the first thing that came to my mind while thinking of ideas for the theme 'global warming + recycling' was how i am going to print the art work. 

I wanted to have four different A4 size images put close together representing one image but then for weeks, it was just that in my mind. Later i thought of a showing an image of a tree asking to plant a tree for everyone of us on earth.So the 4A's would represent a tree when put close together but each A4 alone shows an image too.I came up with a title of 'lets grow peace in our backyard' as peace to me means harmony + greenery + calm + hippies + nature and colors. But this idea didn't go any further than this and i decided to post this anyway as i might still make up my mind to continue work on this.
